Schloss Neuschwanstein

The most Beautiful Castle in the World that's straight from a medieval fairy tale!

Nestled in the Bavarian Alps, the tallest castle in the world offers majestic views of the Bavarian Alps and a source of inspiration for a lot of movies.

History Of Neuschwanstein Castle

Built starting in 1869 by King Ludwig II of Bavaria (the "Fairy Tale King") in the Bavarian Alps of Germany. This Romanesque-Revival architecture.

State-of-the-Art Comforts: Although it appears to belong to the Middle Ages from the exterior, the castle was equipped with advanced 19th-century amenities, such as central heating, running hot and cold water, flushing toilets, an electric bell system, and early telephone lines.

Best Viewpoint: The classic panoramic view of the clifftop castle is photographed from the nearby pedestrian bridge, Marienbrücke, which spans the Pöllat Gorge.

How To Reach

About 75 miles (120 kms) 1½ - 2 hrs drive from Munich via road to the base village of Hohenschwangau or roughly 2 hrs by train to the town of Füssen and another 10 min bus ride to the base village.

From the village and it's ticket center, you can either take a paid shuttle bus ride to the castle entrance or a steep uphill walk for an approx. 1 mile in distance and 450' in elevation & takes about 30 - 40 mins. While the path is paved, the climb makes it for a moderate physical workout and can be tiring. There are also dirt & forest paths available as well.
